GSM ASSOCIATION
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
GSM ASSOCIATION
The GSM Association’s election is over. A new committee had been elected to sail the GSMA Ship which had gone through many rough seas and seasons in the past. We have come a long way and along the way we have acquired experiences and knowledge. However whatever results that finally came out can be used as a yardstick to measures our success and failures over the years. For the new term, we will have to set a fresh course which certainly will pose as challenges for us. Being GSMs we are leaders, as leaders we know that our subordinates will look up to us to help them go through challenging times. The question arises if we possess the skills, knowledge and leadership to take them through the challenging times.
The GSM Association will have to prepare a blueprint for the new term and set goals and action plans to achieve them. The new EXCO will devise methods to achieve the goals set. The following are immediate action plans proposed by the Executive Committee members which we will embark for the betterment of our members:
• We will be holding our GSM convention on 3rd and 4th Nov 2011 to create awareness and provide skills and knowledge to our fellow GSMs.
• Our present website will be redesigned to be more informative and interactive
• GSMs are encouraged to focus more on the Association by supporting all activities organized by GSM Association.
• To build a stronger Confederation for better negotiation.
• To endeavour to buy a building
• All council to work with commitment with EXCO.
These are some of the initiatives the GSM Association will embark in stages. However, we will need the support of all the GSMs as otherwise our projects will not take off. We look forward to working with all GSMs and Cluster Groups. Our bond together will ensure our success on various issues that we may bring up to management.
The management of GE has evolved bringing in top management that are more business focused with minimal room for emotive engagement with the field force. We therefore have to be of one mind to basically ask or demand for our right with regards the contract. We cannot allow the management to bulldoze through rules and regulation that are harsh and ridiculous.
Finally as your new President, I am optimistic that every one of you will provide me and the new Executive Committee members with your support to enable us to be a force and to be reckoned with.
Regards
